CLAAS 7584h – SFA: Right Hand Shock Absorber Signal Failure

Issue description

The SFA (Suspended Front Axle / Cab Suspension) control module has not received a signal from the right-hand shock absorber's position sensor within five seconds of system startup. This communication failure prevents the system from managing the cab's position and damping. Consequently, the tractor enters a safety mode that restricts maximum speed to 15 km/h, deactivates active suspension, and defaults damping to Hard mode.

Applies to these machines

  • Axion 810
  • Axion 850
  • Axion 800 Series
  • Ares 500 Series
  • Ares 600 Series
  • Ares 700 Series
  • Ares 800 Series
  • Arion 500 Series
  • Arion 600 Series

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the right-hand cab shock absorber, its electrical connector, and the wiring harness for damage, corrosion, or loose connections

  2. Disconnect the sensor connector at the right-hand shock absorber and check terminals for corrosion or moisture

  3. Test the continuity of the wiring harness between the shock absorber sensor and the SFA (A102) control module

  4. Test the suspension position sensor for correct voltage output and signal (requires specific service manual for pinouts)

  5. If the sensor and wiring are confirmed good, verify the SFA (A102) control module for internal faults

Repair steps

  1. Confirm the Fault

Use a diagnostic tool to confirm that fault code 7584h is active or stored in the SFA (A102) module.

  2. Perform Diagnostic Checks

Execute the diagnostic checks listed above, starting with the simplest (visual inspection) and progressing to electrical testing of the harness and sensor.

  3. Isolate the Faulty Component

Based on the diagnostic results, determine if the fault lies with the wiring, the connector, or the shock absorber/sensor assembly itself.

  4. Replace the Faulty Component

If the wiring is damaged, repair or replace the harness section. If the connector is faulty, replace the connector. If the shock absorber's internal sensor is determined to be the cause, securely support the cab before removing the old shock absorber, install the new shock absorber assembly, and torque the fasteners to the manufacturer's specification.

  5. Clear Fault Code and Calibrate

After the repair, clear the fault code from the SFA module using a diagnostic tool. It may be necessary to perform a suspension calibration procedure.

  6. Verify the Repair

Start the tractor and operate the cab suspension system to ensure the fault does not return and that the 15 km/h speed limit is removed.

Parts you might need

(6)
  • Includes integrated position sensor. Oil-pressure, twin-tube shock absorber. Alternative SACHS part number: 319 578.

  • For Claas Axion. The electronic module responsible for communication may be integrated into this assembly or be a separate, connected part; the entire assembly is the likely replacement unit.

  • Cab Suspension Shock Absorber

    0021500984

    For Claas Arion 530.

  • Cab Suspension Shock Absorber

    22386171

    For Claas Arion 660.

  • Cab Suspension Sensor

    704143A1

Generic 3-pin Cab Suspension Sensor. A sensor fault typically generates a different code, but a complete failure of the sensor electronics could potentially lead to a 'no message' fault.

  • Cab Suspension Sensor

    0505261

Generic Sensor for Claas. A sensor fault typically generates a different code, but a complete failure of the sensor electronics could potentially lead to a 'no message' fault.
