CLAAS 75D2h – TR1 (A57-1): Crawler Range Engaging Contact Inconsistency

Issue description

The transmission control module detects a discrepancy between the electrical signal from the crawler range engagement sensor and the actual mechanical state of the transmission. This inconsistency indicates that the controller is receiving conflicting data about whether the crawler or low-speed range is engaged, which can lead to erratic transmission behavior, loss of certain functions, or the transmission entering a limited-operation limp mode.

Applies to these machines

  • Arion 500
  • Arion 600
  • Axion 800
  • Xerion

Check the cause

  1. Verify that fault code 75D2h is active or stored in the TR1 (A57-1) transmission module using a diagnostic tool

  2. Check for related transmission fault codes, particularly Id75D7 or Id75D8, which indicate range sensor issues

  3. Inspect electrical connectors and harnesses associated with the transmission range sensors and TR1 control module for moisture, corrosion, pushed-out pins, or physical damage (pay special attention to Canbus connectors)

  4. Test the continuity and signal from the range engaged contacts (Z153-1, Z153-2, Z153-3, and Z153-4) to verify they are functioning correctly

  5. Perform an Integrated Service Computer (ISC) reset to clear temporary inconsistencies

Repair steps

  1. Address electrical issues

Clean any corroded connectors and ensure secure connections. Repair or replace any damaged sections of the wiring harness or Canbus connectors.

  2. Replace faulty sensors

If diagnostic testing identifies a specific range engagement sensor (e.g., one of the Z153 contacts) as faulty, replace the sensor.

  3. Inspect for mechanical problems

If sensors and wiring are in good condition, inspect the range selector mechanism and the C range bearing for wear. A crunching noise when shifting from D to C range is an early indicator of mechanical wear requiring repair.

  4. Inspect Transmission Control Module (TCM)

If all other possibilities are exhausted, inspect the TCM for internal component failure or circuit board corrosion. Repair or replace the TCM as a final step.
