It indicates an inconsistency between the transmission range that the control unit has commanded and the actual range that is physically engaged (as reported by the range feedback switches). When this fault occurs, the tractor's transmission control system detects excessive slippage or a mismatch, and the tractor is typically forced into a single range or rendered motionless to prevent mechanical damage.
