Issue description
The transmission control system is receiving signals indicating that two different transmission ranges (e.g., Range C and Range D) are engaged at the exact same time. Because it is physically impossible for the tractor to operate in two ranges simultaneously, the system flags this as an error and will typically lock out shifting or default to a degraded mode (e.g., the tractor gets stuck in one range or refuses to move).

Check the cause
Check the A range engaged contact (Z153-1)
Check the B range engaged contact (Z153-2)
Check the C range engaged contact (Z153-3)
Check the D range engaged contact (Z153-4)
Inspect for a possible mechanical problem on the range module (e.g., stuck shift forks, mechanical binding, or debris preventing a range from physically disengaging)

Read Live Data
Connect a diagnostic laptop with CLAAS METADIAG or the CLAAS Diagnostic System. Monitor the live states of the Z153 range sensors while attempting to shift through ranges A, B, C, and D.
Identify the Overlap
Determine which two sensors are reading as "open" (engaged) at the same time.
Electrical Testing
Disconnect the wiring harness at the suspect sensors. Test the sensors manually with a multimeter to see if one is internally shorted or stuck in the open position.
Harness Inspection
If the sensors test fine mechanically and electrically, inspect the wiring harness running back to the TR1 (A57-1) module. Look for chafed wires causing a short circuit between the sensor signal wires.
Mechanical Inspection
If the sensors and wiring are fully functional, the transmission range module must be inspected mechanically. A shift rail may be sticking when the transmission gets warm, causing the mechanical components of two ranges to overlap slightly, triggering the sensors.
Replacement & Calibration
Replace any faulty sensors or repair the mechanical bind. Clear the fault codes and perform the requested "ISC" reset to recalibrate the transmission. Test drive the tractor until it reaches operating temperature to ensure it shifts smoothly without locking up.
