Once the ignition is turned on, the control module is experiencing a severe voltage drop (falling below 7 volts). This condition prevents the module from functioning correctly and is typically caused by a weak battery, excessive resistance in the wiring harness, a bad ground, or an internal short circuit within the module itself.

   Check the main battery voltage to ensure it is fully charged and can sustain a load without dropping below 12V

   Check the 12V harnesses and connections supplying power to the Auto 5 module after the ignition contact is made

   Inspect the Auto 5 board's earth/ground points, main supply lines, and look for any signs of corrosion or moisture damage

   Test the Power Source

   Start by load-testing the tractor's battery and verifying the alternator output.

   Locate the Module

   Locate the TR1 (A57-1) Auto 5 module. On most applicable models, this module is located directly behind the driver's seat.

   Inspect the Connector

   Disconnect the 42-terminal connector from the Auto 5 module. Inspect the pins for green corrosion, water ingress, or pushed-out pins. These modules are known to be highly sensitive to moisture.

   Voltage Drop Test

   With the connector unplugged and the ignition switched ON, measure the voltage at the power supply pins on the harness side. If the voltage is 12V+ at the harness but drops below 7V when plugged in, the Auto 5 module likely has an internal short. If the voltage is already below 7V at the unplugged harness, trace the wiring back to the ignition relay and battery to repair the damaged wire or bad ground.

   Replace or Repair the Module

   If the harness and battery are confirmed good, the Auto 5 module must be replaced or sent out for board-level repair.

   Reprogramming

   The Auto 5 is a generic module. If a replacement is installed, it must be programmed and calibrated to the specific tractor's transmission functions using the CLAAS Diagnostic System (CDS) or CLAAS tool n° 60 05 033 249.
