CLAAS 75E2h – TR1: Range D Solenoid Valve Circuit Fault

Issue description

The transmission control module has detected an electrical fault in the circuit for the solenoid valve that controls range D of the transmission. This fault can be either a short circuit (current taking an unintended path) or an open circuit (interrupted current path). This condition will affect the tractor's ability to engage or disengage range D and typically triggers an audio warning.

Applies to these machines

  • Axion 810
  • Axion 850
  • Arion 410
  • Arion 430
  • Arion 510
  • Arion 530
  • Arion 550
  • Arion 610
  • Arion 620
  • Arion 630
  • Arion 640
  • Arion 650

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the TR1 (A57-1) control module and the range D solenoid valve (Y339-4) for damage, corrosion, or loose connections.

  2. Check for an open circuit: disconnect the harness and use a multimeter to check for continuity on the wire from terminal 10 of the TR1 module connector to the solenoid valve connector (infinite resistance indicates a break).

  3. Check for a short circuit to ground: with the harness disconnected, measure resistance between the signal wire (terminal 10) and chassis ground. A low resistance reading indicates a short circuit to ground.

  4. Check solenoid valve resistance: measure across the two terminals of the solenoid valve (Y339-4). Infinite resistance indicates an open coil, while very low resistance indicates an internal short.

  5. Check power supply at the module: verify the TR1 module sends a 12V signal from terminal 10 to activate Range D (should be 0V when not engaged). Perform with caution to avoid module damage.

Repair steps

  1. Repair wiring and connectors

If diagnostic checks reveal any damage to the wiring harness or connectors, repair or replace the affected sections. Ensure all connections are clean and secure.

  2. Replace solenoid valve

If the solenoid valve (Y339-4) is found to be faulty (open coil, shorted, or out of specification), replace the component.

  3. Test and replace TR1 module

If the wiring and solenoid valve are in good condition, test the TR1 (A57-1) 'Auto 5' module using special tool part number 60 05 033 249. Replace the module if it is determined to be faulty.

  4. Clear codes and test operation

After completing repairs, clear all fault codes from the system using a compatible diagnostic tool. Operate the tractor to ensure the fault is resolved and the code does not reappear.
