CLAAS Id75F5h / 75F5h (354) – TR1 (A57-1) Transmission Module: Short circuit on range A sensor

The transmission controller has detected an electrical short circuit in the circuit belonging to the sensor/switch responsible for monitoring when Range A is engaged.

• CLAAS Ares Series (e.g., Ares 657 ATZ)

   Check the A range engaged contact (CLAAS Component Number Z153-1) and verify the B (Z153-2), C (Z153-3), and D (Z153-4) range engaged contacts to ensure the issue isn't cascading from another sensor.

   Check the connectors and the continuity of the harnesses linking the transmission module to the range sensors for short-circuits or open circuits.

   Check the sensor's resistance and adjustment.

   Check the sources of energy (fuses, 12V supply, and ground) to the transmission sensors.

   Check for a possible mechanical problem on the range module (e.g., mechanical seizing) that might be forcing the sensor into a fault state.

   Inspect Wiring

   Locate the Range A engaged contact (Z153-1) on the transmission range module. Inspect the wiring harness leading from the sensor back to the TR1 (A57-1) transmission controller. Look for rubbed through insulation, pinched wires, or corrosion in the connectors that could cause a short circuit.

   Test the Sensor

   Disconnect the Range A sensor. Use a multimeter to test the sensor's resistance and verify if the short circuit is internal to the sensor or on the harness side.

   Check Mechanical Operation

   Ensure the transmission range module shifts into Range A smoothly without mechanical binding.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring harness tests good (no shorts to ground or power) and the mechanical linkage is fine, the internal contacts of the Range A sensor have likely failed closed/shorted. Replace the Z153-1 sensor.

   Clear and Retest

   Reconnect all components, clear the fault codes from the TR1 module, and test drive the tractor through all ranges to ensure the code does not return.
