CLAAS 764Bh – Auto 5: Solenoid Valve Power Supply Short Circuit

A 12 V short circuit has been detected on the power supply harness for solenoid valve SV2 (Y335-2). This indicates that electrical current is bypassing its intended path, which can lead to component malfunction or damage. Common causes include damaged wiring insulation, moisture in connectors, or an internal failure of the solenoid coil itself.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness connected to the suspect solenoid valve for chafing, cuts, or heat damage

   Check connectors for corrosion or moisture ingress

   Verify that the correct voltage is being supplied to the solenoid valve

   Use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the solenoid coil (near-zero ohms indicates a short circuit, infinite indicates an open circuit)

   Perform a functional test by listening for a 'click' from the solenoid when actuated

   De-energize system

   Disconnect the battery and depressurize any relevant hydraulic or pneumatic systems before beginning work.

   Locate solenoid

   Identify solenoid valve SV2 (Y335-2) and its corresponding harness.

   Disconnect harness

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid valve.

   Test circuit

   With the harness disconnected, check the power supply wire in the harness for a short circuit to the ground.
