CLAAS Id7680h / 7680h (501) – TR3 (A57-3) Transmission Module: PTO clutch skidding high
Issue description
The system has detected excessive slipping (skidding) in the Power Take-Off (PTO) clutch mechanism. Because the slip exceeds safety parameters, the tractor's electronic control system automatically forces the PTO into the 'off' state to prevent further mechanical damage or catastrophic failure.

Check the cause
Check the rear PTO speed sensor (B142) for proper resistance, harness continuity, and erratic readings
Check the engine speed sensor (B228-1) located on the PTO clutch housing
Check the pressure of the low-pressure circuit applying the clutch to ensure it is not missing or low
Check the Power take-off clutch for mechanical wear, thinned clutch discs, or internal leakage
Check the 'Auto 5' module using CLAAS test tool 60 05 033 249
Repair steps
Read and Isolate Codes
Note all error codes present. Clear them and operate the tractor to see if Id7680h returns, ensuring it is the root anomaly and not a cascaded error.
Inspect Wiring and Connectors
Check the harnesses linking the TR3 (A57-3) module to the B142 and B228-1 sensors. Look for short-circuits, open circuits, or moisture damage.
Test Sensors
Verify the adjustment and resistance of the rear PTO speed sensor (B142) and engine speed sensor (B228-1). Replace them if they are drifting or failing to provide feedback.
Hydraulic Pressure Test
Measure the clutch engagement pressure on the low-pressure circuit. If pressure is low, inspect the PTO solenoid valve, regulator valve, and hydraulic filters for contamination or failure.
Module Testing/Replacement
If the sensors and hydraulic pressure are within spec, use test unit 60 05 033 249 to check the 'Auto 5' module. Replace the module if it is internally shorted or failing to command the clutch properly.
Mechanical Clutch Inspection
If all electronic and hydraulic commands are correct but the clutch still slips, the PTO clutch pack must be disassembled. Replace worn clutch discs, damaged hubs, or leaking internal seals.
Recalibration
After replacing components, check the compatibility of program versions and perform any required calibration via the diagnostic terminal before returning the tractor to service.
Parts you might need
(4)Rear PTO Speed Sensor (B142) / Engine Speed Sensor (B228-1)
6005018990Often listed as CL6005018990. This single part number is frequently used for both the B142 PTO speed sensor and the B228-1 engine speed sensor on the clutch housing.
Auto 5 Electronic Module / Diagnostic Breakout
6005033249Listed in OEM catalogs as 'BOITIER ELECTRONIQUE' (Electronic Box) or 'Tensioning element/block'. Used to test or replace the Auto 5 control unit.
PTO Clutch Pack / Friction Discs
Varies strictly by specific tractor model/serial. Required if mechanical wear is causing the skidding.
PTO Solenoid Valve / Low-Pressure Regulator
Varies by model. Required if the low-pressure circuit fails the pressure test.
