CLAAS Id76DEh / 76DEh (627) – SFA (A102): Open circuit on the down On/Off solenoid valve (solenoid valve 2)

Issue description

The control module has detected an open circuit (broken wire, disconnected plug, or burnt-out internal coil) on the circuit controlling the front axle's 'down' solenoid valve. The front axle suspension becomes non-functional and is locked in its current position.

Check the cause

  1. Check the connectors and continuity of the harnesses linking the SFA (A102) module to the Y322/Y494 solenoid valve for broken wires, rubbed-through insulation, or unseated pins.

  2. Use a multimeter to verify there are no short-circuits to ground or open circuits in the supply lines.

  3. Check the sources of energy (fuses, 12V supply, and ground) at the solenoid connector when the suspension is commanded to move.

  4. Measure the resistance of the solenoid coil itself. An infinite resistance (OL) indicates the internal coil has failed open.

  5. Check the component's operating conditions to ensure the valve spool is not mechanically seized inside the valve block.

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

    Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine. Ensure the front axle is safely supported, as working on the suspension valve block can cause the chassis to drop unexpectedly if hydraulic pressure is released.

  2. Locate the Valve Block

    Locate the front axle suspension control valve block (usually mounted near the front axle carrier). Identify Solenoid Valve 2 (Y322 / Y494).

  3. Inspect the Harness

    Disconnect the electrical plug to the solenoid. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner. Inspect the wiring harness leading back to the SFA module for physical damage.

  4. Test the Solenoid

    Probe the two pins on the solenoid coil with a multimeter set to Ohms. If the circuit is open, the coil is dead.

  5. Replace the Solenoid Coil/Valve

    Remove the retaining nut holding the solenoid coil to the valve stem. Slide the old coil off. (If the entire cartridge valve is seized or damaged, unscrew the cartridge from the block, being prepared to catch residual hydraulic oil). Install the new solenoid coil (or complete valve) and tighten to the specified torque.

  6. Reassemble and Clear Codes

    Reconnect the wiring harness. Turn on the tractor and use the CLAAS METADIAG / CDS diagnostic tool (or the CEBIS terminal) to clear the Id76DEh fault code.

  7. Test Operation

    Cycle the front axle suspension through its full range of motion to confirm the repair.
