CLAAS Id76E0h / 76E0h (629) – SFA (A102): Open circuit on the transfer proportional solenoid valve (solenoid valve 3)

The control module has detected a break in the electrical circuit (an "open circuit") for the transfer proportional solenoid valve (Y331). This usually means a wire is broken, a connector is unplugged/corroded, or the internal coil of the solenoid has burnt out. The front suspension becomes non-functional and is locked in its current position, and the tractor may display a "Drive slow" warning.

   Visually inspect the connectors and continuity of the harnesses linking the SFA (A102) module to the Y331 solenoid for damaged pins, moisture, or chafed wires.

   Check for any short-circuits or open circuits in the wiring harness using a multimeter.

   Check the sources of energy (fuses, supply voltage, and ground) at the solenoid connector with the ignition on.

   Measure the resistance (Ohms) across the pins of the Y331 solenoid coil (an infinite reading confirms the coil is burnt out).

   Check the component's operating conditions to ensure the valve spool is not mechanically seized due to contamination.

   Locate the Valve

   Locate the front axle suspension control valve block (usually mounted near the front axle assembly). Identify Solenoid Valve 3 (Y331).

   Disconnect and Isolate

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the Y331 solenoid.

   Test the Coil

   Probe the two terminals on the solenoid itself. If the multimeter shows an open circuit, the solenoid coil has failed.

   Test the Harness

   If the coil tests within normal resistance specifications, the open circuit is in the tractor's wiring. Trace the harness back to the SFA (A102) module, repairing any broken wires or replacing damaged connector pigtails.

   Replace the Solenoid

   If the coil is dead, depressurize the hydraulic system. Remove the retaining nut holding the solenoid coil to the valve stem and slide the old coil off (or unthread the entire cartridge valve if it is a single-piece assembly).

   Install New Part

   Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem, tighten the retaining nut, and plug in the electrical connector.

   Clear Codes

   Turn the battery disconnect back on, clear the fault codes from the SFA module via the CEBIS/CIS terminal or diagnostic tool, and test drive the tractor to ensure the front axle suspension actively dampens and is no longer locked.
