CLAAS Id76E6h / 76E6h (635) – SFA (A102): Short-circuit to ground of the transfer proportional solenoid valve (solenoid valve 3)

Issue description

Non-functional front suspension that becomes locked in its current position, and the machine may be forced into a "Drive slow" state.

Applies to these machines

  • CLAAS Axion 850–810
  • CLAAS Axion 800 series
  • CLAAS Arion 640–510 series

Check the cause

  1. Check the connectors and the continuity of the wiring harnesses linking the SFA (A102) module to the Y331 solenoid valve

  2. Test the wiring specifically for a short-circuit to ground

  3. Check the internal resistance of the Y331 solenoid coil to see if the short is internal to the component

  4. Check the sources of energy including fuses, supply voltage, and ground connections

  5. Check the component's physical operating conditions for mechanical seizing of the valve, pressure, and temperature issues

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Component

Locate the Transfer solenoid valve 3 (Y331) on the front axle suspension hydraulic valve block.

  2. Inspect Wiring

Disconnect the harness at the Y331 solenoid and at the SFA (A102) module. Use a multimeter to check for continuity to ground on the supply wire. If a short to ground is found in the harness, repair or replace the damaged wiring section.

  3. Test the Solenoid

If the wiring harness is good, test the pins on the Y331 solenoid itself. If the solenoid coil is internally shorted to its casing/ground, the solenoid valve must be replaced.

  4. Replace the Valve (if necessary)

Depressurize the suspension hydraulic system. Remove the faulty Y331 transfer proportional solenoid valve and install the replacement part.

  5. Re-test

Reconnect the wiring, clear the fault codes from the SFA module, and test the front axle suspension through its full range of motion to ensure it is no longer locked in its current position.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Transfer proportional solenoid valve / Transfer solenoid valve 3 (Component ID: Y331)

This is a proportional solenoid valve located on the front suspension valve block. Ensure the hydraulic system is depressurized before removal.
