CLAAS Id76E9h / 76E9h (638) – SFA (A102): Short-circuit on the supply of the right-hand suspension position sensor

Issue description

When this fault is triggered, the system defaults to a degraded mode: the front suspension becomes non-functional and is locked in its current position to prevent erratic movements.

Applies to these machines

  • Axion 850
  • Axion 920
  • Axion 950
  • Arion 500 series
  • Arion 600 series
  • Arion 510

Check the cause

  1. Check the connectors and the continuity of the harnesses linking the B234-1 sensor to the SFA (A102) module

  2. Inspect the wiring specifically for a short-circuit to the supply voltage or an open circuit

  3. Check the sources of energy at the sensor connector, including fuses, supply voltage, and ground connections

  4. Check the sensor's resistance and verify its physical adjustment/mounting on the axle

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Note that removing the sensor will require a new adjustment upon reinstallation. To properly re-install the sensor, all other axle parts must be assembled.

  2. Removal

Unscrew the sensor cover attachment bolts. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor. Unscrew the sensor support screws, then carefully remove the assembly.

  3. Marking

Mark the position of the ring holder bush. This is critical to correctly position the rubber ring in its housing during reassembly.

  4. Installation

Install the new sensor and bush, referring strictly to the alignment marks you made previously. Secure the support screws, reconnect the electrical connector, and reinstall the sensor cover.

  5. Calibration

Perform any required software calibration or adjustment for the new suspension position sensor via the CLAAS diagnostic tool to clear the code and restore suspension functionality.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Front Axle Suspension Position Sensor (Right-Hand / B234-1)

    148734

Aftermarket Alternatives: Sparex S.148734 / S.151185. Mounts directly to the front axle assembly to monitor the travel of the suspension cylinders. Ensure you are replacing the Right-Hand sensor (B234-1) as opposed to the Left-Hand sensor (B234-2).
