CLAAS Id76ECh / 76ECh (641) – SFA (A102): Short-circuit to supply of the suspension position sensor

Issue description

The system registers that the voltage supply to the sensor is too high or shorted to power. As a safety and operational symptom, the front suspension becomes non-functional and is locked in its current position.

Applies to these machines

  • Axion 800
  • Axion 810
  • Axion 850
  • Axion 870
  • Arion 500 series
  • Arion 600 series

Check the cause

  1. Identify the specific front axle suspension position sensors designated as B220 or B234-2.

  2. Check the connectors and the continuity of the wiring harnesses linking the sensor to the SFA (A102) module.

  3. Test the circuit for any short-circuits to power (12V supply) or open circuits.

  4. Check the sensor's resistance and physical adjustment.

  5. Verify the sources of energy, including fuses, main power supply, and ground connections.

  6. Check the component's operating conditions to ensure there is no mechanical seizing or physical damage to the sensor linkage.

Repair steps

  1. Prepare for repair

Ensure all other axle parts are fully assembled before attempting to install or adjust the sensor.

  2. Remove faulty sensor

Unscrew the attachment bolts holding the sensor cover. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor. Unscrew the sensor support screws, then remove the sensor assembly.

  3. Mark bush position

Mark the position of the ring holder bush. This is critical to correctly position the rubber ring in its housing during reassembly.

  4. Install new sensor

Install the new sensor and bush, referring strictly to the marks previously made. Reconnect the electrical connector and reinstall the protective cover.

  5. Calibrate sensor

Use the CLAAS Diagnostic System to calibrate the new sensor's travel limits so the SFA module can accurately read the axle position. Note: Removing or replacing the sensor requires a new adjustment/calibration.
