Id76EDh / 76EDh (642)

CLAAS Id76EDh / 76EDh (642) – SFA (A102) - Suspended Front Axle module: Supply voltage too low (< 10,5 V).

Issue description

The front axle suspension becomes non-functional and is locked in its current position. The system enters a degraded mode to protect the components.

Applies to these machines

  • Axion 800 Series
  • Axion 810
  • Axion 830
  • Axion 840
  • Axion 850
  • Axion 900 Series
  • Axion 920
  • Axion 950
  • Arion Series

Check the cause

  1. Check the Voltage Source (G001) to verify that the tractor's battery and alternator are outputting sufficient voltage (must be > 10.5V under load)

  2. Inspect all fuses, relays, and ground connections supplying power to the SFA (A102) module

  3. Check the connectors and continuity of the harnesses linking the power source to the SFA module

  4. Test the wiring for any short-circuits to ground or open circuits

Repair steps

  1. Verify System Voltage

Use a multimeter to test the battery voltage with the engine off and running. If the system voltage is below 10.5V, diagnose the battery and alternator first. Charge or replace as necessary.

  2. Inspect the SFA (A102) Module Connectors

Locate the Suspended Front Axle module. Disconnect the wiring harness and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or poor terminal tension. Clean and apply dielectric grease if necessary.

  3. Test Power and Ground at the Module

With the key ON, probe the power supply and ground pins at the SFA module connector. If voltage is below 10.5V at the connector (but good at the battery), trace the wiring back to the fuse panel to locate the voltage drop, broken wire, or corroded ground strap.

  4. Inspect Fuses/Relays

Locate the fuse box (often in the cab or near the battery compartment depending on the model) and check the specific fuse for the SFA module power supply. Replace if blown, but investigate the circuit for shorts if it blows repeatedly.

  5. Repair Wiring

Repair any damaged wiring harnesses, open circuits, or shorts discovered during the continuity test.

  6. Module Replacement (Worst Case)

If the module is receiving proper voltage (> 10.5V) and has a solid ground, but the code remains active and the suspension remains locked, the SFA (A102) module itself has an internal fault and must be replaced and reprogrammed via the CLAAS Diagnostic System (CDS).

  7. Clear Codes and Test

Clear the fault codes from the CEBIS/CIS terminal and test the front axle suspension through its full range of motion to confirm the repair.
