CLAAS Id76F2h / 76F2h – BDG (A103): No message was transmitted by the HYD module although the configuration indicates its presence.

Issue description

This is a CAN bus communication error where the system expects to communicate with the hydraulic module based on the tractor's configuration, but it is not receiving any data frames from it. As a result, the hydraulic module and its associated functions become inactive.

Check the cause

  1. Check the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus network: Ensure the network is intact and not shorted to ground or power.

  2. Check the HYD (A60) hydraulic module: Verify it is physically present and securely mounted.

  3. Check the BDG (A103) CAN network communication module: Ensure it is functioning and relaying messages properly.

  4. Check wiring and connectors: Inspect the connectors and test the continuity of harnesses linking the BDG and HYD components. Look for any short-circuits or open circuits.

  5. Check energy sources: Verify the fuses, power supply (12V), and ground connections to the HYD (A60) module.

  6. Check software: Verify the compatibility of program versions, settings, and calibration between the modules.

Repair steps

  1. Power Cycle & Clear

    Turn off the ignition, wait for the system to power down completely, and restart to see if the communication loss was a temporary glitch.

  2. Inspect Power & Ground

    Locate the HYD (A60) module. Disconnect its harness and use a multimeter to verify it is receiving steady battery voltage and has a clean ground. If power is missing, trace the circuit back to the fuse box and replace blown fuses or repair broken supply wires.

  3. Test CAN Bus Integrity

    With the battery disconnected, measure the resistance across the CAN High and CAN Low pins at the HYD module connector. Check for continuity between the HYD (A60) and the BDG (A103) module. Repair any damaged, corroded, or pinched wiring in the harness.

  4. Software Configuration

    Connect the CLAAS METADIAG diagnostic tool. Verify that the tractor's configuration correctly matches the installed hardware and that the HYD module software is up to date.

  5. Component Replacement

    If the wiring, power, ground, and CAN lines are all perfect but the HYD module still fails to transmit messages, the HYD (A60) module has failed internally and must be replaced. If the BDG module is failing to read multiple modules, the BDG itself may be at fault.
