CLAAS Id76F5h / 76F5h – BDG (A103): No message was transmitted by the CVT module although the configuration indicates its presence
Issue description
The CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) module and its associated functions become inactive because no message was transmitted by the CVT module although the configuration indicates its presence.
Applies to these machines
2 machines- CLAAS Axion series (850-810 models)
- CLAAS Arion series (640-510 models)
Check the cause
Check the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus network for physical integrity
Check the CVT module to ensure it is receiving power and is properly connected
Check the CAN network communication module BDG (A103) to verify its operation and connections
Check the connectors and continuity of the harnesses linking the CVT module, the BDG module, and the CAN bus
Check for any short-circuits or open circuits in the electrical system
Check the sources of energy, including fuses, power supply, and ground connections to the modules
Check the compatibility of program versions, settings, and calibration to ensure the tractor's configuration correctly matches the installed modules
Repair steps
Isolate the Power
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery before working on the CAN bus or modules to prevent electrical shorts.
Inspect Wiring and Connectors
Locate the wiring harnesses connecting the CVT module and the BDG (A103) module. Disconnect the plugs and inspect for corrosion, backed-out pins, or moisture. Clean or repair as necessary.
Test Continuity and Voltage
Using a multimeter, verify that the CVT module is receiving proper voltage (supply and ground) and that the CAN High and CAN Low lines have continuity between the CVT module and the BDG (A103) module.
Verify Configuration
If the wiring is intact, use the CLAAS diagnostic tool to verify that the tractor's software configuration correctly recognizes the CVT module and that the software versions are compatible.
Replace Faulty Component
If the wiring, power, and software are all verified to be correct but the CVT module still fails to transmit messages to the BDG module, replace the component if required (either the CVT module or the BDG A103 module).
Recalibrate
After replacing a module, perform any required settings adjustments and calibrations as defined in the test and measurement files.
Parts you might need
(2)CAN network communication module BDG (A103)
Ensure that any replacement module is flashed/programmed with the correct software version to match the tractor's configuration, otherwise, the CAN bus will continue to reject its presence.
CVT Module
Ensure that any replacement module is flashed/programmed with the correct software version to match the tractor's configuration, otherwise, the CAN bus will continue to reject its presence.
