Id76F8h / 76F8h

CLAAS Id76F8h / 76F8h – BDG (A103): No message has been transmitted by the MFA module for at least 5 seconds.

Issue description

This is a CAN bus communication error. It indicates that the CAN network communication module has stopped receiving data frames from the Multifunction Armrest (MFA) module for a duration of 5 seconds or more. As a system response, the MFA module and all of its associated functions will default to an inactive or degraded state.

Applies to these machines

  • Axion 800 series
  • Axion 810
  • Axion 820
  • Axion 830
  • Axion 840
  • Axion 850
  • Arion 500 series
  • Arion 600 series

Check the cause

  1. Analyze Codes: Note all error codes present on the tractor. Analyze the interaction between them, as a broader CAN bus failure (like a short circuit) can generate this specific module timeout code.

  2. Check the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus network: Inspect the physical wiring harness linking the components for continuity, open circuits, or short-circuits.

  3. Check Energy Sources: Verify the power supply, grounds, and fuses providing energy to the MFA (A100) module. If the armrest loses power, it will stop transmitting messages.

  4. Check the Modules: Inspect the connectors at both the MFA (A100) armrest multifunction module and the BDG (A103) CAN network communication module for corrosion, backed-out pins, or moisture.

Repair steps

  1. Read and Record

Connect the CLAAS Diagnostic System (CDS) and record all active and stored fault codes.

  2. Inspect Wiring & Power

Test the power and ground pins at the MFA (A100) connector. If power is missing, trace the circuit back to the cab utility fuse plate and repair the wiring or replace the blown fuse.

  3. Test CAN Lines

Measure the resistance and voltage of the CAN High and CAN Low lines between the MFA (A100) and the BDG (A103) to ensure the communication bus is intact.

  4. Component Replacement

If the wiring, power, and grounds are all within specification, the fault lies internally within the MFA (A100) module (most common) or the BDG (A103) module. Replace the faulty module.

  5. Software/Calibration

If a module is replaced, check the compatibility of program versions using CDS and perform any necessary settings or calibrations.

  6. Clear and Verify

Clear all error codes from the system memory, then operate the tractor to verify the anomaly does not return.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • MFA (A100) - Multifunction Armrest Module / CEBIS Module

When ordering from a CLAAS dealer, you must provide the tractor's VIN/Serial number to ensure the module is flashed with the correct parameter set.

  • BDG (A103) - CAN Network Communication Module

When ordering from a CLAAS dealer, you must provide the tractor's VIN/Serial number to ensure the module is flashed with the correct parameter set.

  • Generic CAN bus wiring harness / connectors

Fitment depends on the specific cab harness configuration
