CLAAS Id76FEh / 76FEh – BDG (A103): CAN bus communication timeout from REH module

No message has been transmitted by the REH module for at least 5 seconds. The tractor's system loses communication with the rear lifting module, meaning the REH lifting module and its associated functions (such as the rear hitch/linkage controls) may be lost or locked out.

   Check the Powertrain CAN bus network: Inspect the wiring harness linking the REH (A58) and BDG (A103) modules for continuity.

   Check for physical wiring damage: Look for short-circuits or open circuits in the CAN lines.

   Check power and ground sources: Verify the sources of energy (fuses, 12V supply, and ground) to the REH (A58) module to ensure it is powering on.

   Check the modules: Inspect the connectors on both the lifting module REH (A58) and the CAN network communication module BDG (A103) for corrosion, backed-out pins, or moisture.

   Document Codes

   Note all error codes present on the tractor. Analyze the interaction between these error codes, as a power supply issue or CAN short might generate multiple codes simultaneously.

   Test Harnesses

   Perform multimeter tests on the Powertrain CAN bus network to verify continuity and ensure there are no shorts to ground or power.

   Verify Module Power

   Test the power and ground pins directly at the REH (A58) connector. If the module is not receiving power, repair the wiring or replace the blown fuse.

   Replace Faulty Component

   If the wiring, fuses, and CAN bus integrity are all good, but the REH module still fails to broadcast messages, replace the REH (A58) lifting module. (In rare cases, the BDG (A103) module may be at fault if it fails to read messages from multiple modules).

   Clear and Retest

   If a module is replaced, check if compatibility programming, settings, or calibration are required. Clear all error codes, then test the tractor's lifting functions to ensure the anomaly does not return.
