CLAAS Id7701h / 7701h – BDG (A103): BDG Module CAN Bus Communication Failure

The BDG module no longer transmits any messages on the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus due to a number of CAN frame errors too high on the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus.

   Check the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus network physical wiring for damage

   Verify the BDG (A103) module is securely connected and receiving power

   Check all relevant fuses, power supply lines, and ground connections to the BDG module

   Verify the compatibility of the program versions, settings, and calibration of the module

   Visual Inspection

   Inspect the wiring harnesses linking the BDG module to the rest of the CAN bus. Look for pinched, chafed, or melted wires.

   Connector Check

   Disconnect the harness at the BDG (A103) module. Check the pins for corrosion, moisture, or bent terminals. Clean and reseat the connectors.

   Electrical Testing

   Use a multimeter to check for continuity across the CAN bus harness.

   Short/Open Circuit Testing

   Test the CAN High and CAN Low lines for short-circuits to power (12V), short-circuits to ground, or open circuits.

   Resistance Check

   Check the CAN bus terminating resistors (typically 60 ohms across the bus when powered down) to ensure the network is properly terminated.

   Module Replacement

   If the wiring, power, grounds, and terminating resistors all test within specification, the BDG (A103) CAN network communication module has likely failed internally and must be replaced.
