CLAAS 7722h – ENG (A15): Turbocharger Speed Missing

Issue description

The Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected an issue with the signal from the turbocharger speed sensor, which may be too low, too high, intermittent, or completely absent. The ECM uses this information to regulate boost pressure and prevent the turbo from over-speeding, which could cause catastrophic failure. When this fault is active, the engine module may disregard the sensor's input and operate in a protective 'limp mode,' which can result in a noticeable loss of engine power.

Applies to these machines

  • Arion 610
  • Arion 640
  • Axion 810
  • Axion 810 C-matic
  • Axion 810 HEXASHIFT
  • Axion 840 C-matic
  • Axion 850
  • Axion 850 HEXASHIFT
  • Axion 850 Stage V
  • Axion 850-810

Check the cause

  1. Verify the fault code using a diagnostic scanner

  2. Check the turbocharger speed sensor (B226)

  3. Inspect the wiring harness connected to the turbocharger speed sensor (component B226) for any signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections

  4. Check the engine module (ENG A15)

Repair steps

  1. Locate sensor

Locate the turbocharger speed sensor (B226) on the turbocharger housing.

  2. Disconnect wiring

Disconnect the electrical connector from the turbocharger speed sensor.

  3. Remove sensor

Remove the bolt or retaining mechanism holding the sensor in place and carefully remove the old sensor.

  4. Install new sensor

Install the new turbocharger speed sensor and secure it with the retaining mechanism.

  5. Reconnect wiring

Reconnect the electrical connector to the new sensor.

  6. Clear codes and test

Clear the fault codes using a diagnostic scanner and test the machine to ensure the fault does not return.

Parts you might need
