CLAAS Id772Dh / 772Dh (110 16) – ENG (A15): Temperature of the engine coolant averagely high (Moderately Severe Level)
Issue description
The engine coolant temperature has exceeded normal operating parameters (typically above 105°C - 110°C depending on the specific engine). As a protective function, the engine calculator reduces engine power by 5% per minute until it reaches 80% of its nominal power to prevent catastrophic engine damage.

Check the cause
Check the engine coolant level.
Inspect the radiator, intercooler, and condenser for external blockages (dust, chaff, debris).
Verify the cooling fan is operating correctly.
Test the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (B45 or B045) resistance and verify the input voltage at the connector.
Inspect the wiring harness between the B45 sensor and the ENG (A15) module for chafing, open circuits, or short circuits.
Ensure the ENG (A15) module connections are secure.
Repair steps
Safety First
Allow the engine to cool completely before opening the cooling system to prevent severe burns from pressurized hot coolant.
Visual & Physical Cleaning
Blow out the radiator and heat exchanger fins with compressed air to ensure maximum airflow.
Coolant Level
Check the coolant reservoir. Top up with the OEM-specified coolant if low. If a leak is found (e.g., hoses, water pump), repair the leak first.
Sensor Replacement
If diagnosed as faulty: Locate the B45/B045 coolant temperature sensor on the engine block/thermostat housing. Disconnect the electrical harness connector. Unscrew the faulty sensor (have a catch pan ready for minor coolant spillage). Install the new sensor and torque to OEM specifications. Reconnect the electrical harness.
Thermostat/Water Pump
If the sensor is good (reading accurately) and the engine is genuinely overheating, replace the thermostat or inspect the water pump for impeller failure.
Post-Repair
Top off the coolant, bleed the cooling system of air, start the engine, and monitor the temperature via the CAB module display. Clear the Id772Dh / 110 16 fault code using a diagnostic tool.
