CLAAS Id775Bh / 775Bh (653 05) – ENG (A15): Open circuit on the electronic injector of cylinder n°3

Issue description

The engine control module has detected that the electrical current to the cylinder #3 injector is less than expected, indicating an open circuit. The engine will run with difficulty, run rough, and misfire because the ignition/fuel delivery of the injector in cylinder n°3 is inoperative.

Applies to these machines

  • Axion 810
  • Axion 820
  • Axion 830
  • Axion 840
  • Axion 850
  • Arion series
  • Lexion combines

Check the cause

  1. Check the Electronic Injector (Component Y320-3): Test the internal resistance of the cylinder #3 injector coil using a multimeter. An infinite or out-of-spec resistance reading confirms the open circuit is internal to the injector.

  2. Check the Engine Module ENG (A15) and Wiring: Inspect the wiring harness running from the A15 Engine ECU to the Y320-3 injector. Look for chafed wires, broken lines, or loose/corroded connector pins that could cause a break in the circuit.

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Turn off the machine, disconnect the battery, and ensure the engine is cool. Depressurize the fuel system if you are proceeding to remove the injector.

  2. Inspect Wiring

Disconnect the electrical connector at the cylinder #3 injector (Y320-3) and at the Engine ECU (A15). Perform a continuity test on the wires. If a wire is broken, repair the harness.

  3. Replace the Injector

If the harness tests good but the injector coil is open, the injector must be replaced.

  4. Remove the Faulty Injector

Remove the high-pressure fuel lines and the injector hold-down clamp for cylinder #3. Extract the injector.

  5. Install the New Injector

Clean the injector sleeve/cup. Install the new injector with new O-rings and a new copper sealing washer. Torque the hold-down clamp and high-pressure fuel lines to OEM specifications.

  6. Program Injector Codes

Depending on the exact engine generation, the new injector's calibration code (trim code) may need to be programmed into the ENG (A15) module using a diagnostic tool (like CLAAS CDS or Texa) so the ECU knows the exact flow characteristics of the new injector.

  7. Clear Codes and Test

Reconnect the battery, prime the fuel system, clear the fault codes from the ECU, and run the engine to verify that the misfire is resolved and the code does not return.
