CLAAS Id7760h / 7760h (654 05) – ENG (A15) - Engine Control Module (ECU): Open circuit on the electronic injector of cylinder n°4

Issue description

The engine control module has detected that the electrical current to Injector #4 is less than expected, indicating an open circuit. The engine will run with difficulty, run rough, and misfire because the ignition/fuel delivery of the injector in cylinder n°4 is inoperative.

Applies to these machines

  • Axion 810
  • Axion 820
  • Axion 830
  • Axion 840
  • Axion 850
  • Arion 510
  • Arion 520
  • Arion 530
  • Arion 540
  • Arion 610
  • Arion 620
  • Arion 630
  • Arion 640

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness for continuity between the Engine Module ENG (A15) and the Electronic Injector (Y320-4)

  2. Check for physical damage, chafed wires, or disconnected/corroded connectors at both the ECU and the injector

  3. Measure the electrical resistance of Injector #4's solenoid coil to verify if the internal circuit of the injector has failed

  4. Verify the sources of energy (fuses, power supply, and ground connections) to the engine module and injector circuit

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery and clean area

Disconnect the battery and clean the area around the cylinder #4 injector to prevent debris from entering the engine.

  2. Disconnect electrical connector

Disconnect the electrical connector from Injector #4.

  3. Remove fuel lines

Remove the high-pressure fuel lines connected to the injector.

  4. Remove injector coupling

Smear the injector coupling to be removed with grease. Tap the injector coupling over 1 cm using an M22 x 250 tap. Install and screw the appropriate puller tool into the injector sleeve. Pull the injector coupling out.

  5. Remove faulty injector

    Remove the faulty injector.

  6. Install new injector

Install the new injector with new O-rings and sealing washers.

  7. Reinstall components

Reinstall the injector coupling, high-pressure fuel lines, and electrical connector.

  8. Bleed fuel system and clear codes

Bleed the fuel system if required, reconnect the battery, and clear the fault codes from the ENG (A15) module.

  9. Program injector trim code

Depending on the exact engine generation, the new injector's trim code/calibration string may need to be programmed into the Engine ECU using a diagnostic tool.
