CLAAS Id77F8h / 77F8h (14) – HYD (A60): Configuration message from valve 5 is not in the right format

Issue description

The "Configuration" message from valve 5 is not in the right format. As a safety measure, electrodistributor 5 (valve 5) automatically returns to the neutral position.

Applies to these machines

  • Axion 800 series
  • Axion 810-850
  • Arion series

Check the cause

  1. The Hydraulic CAN bus network: Verify communication integrity.

  2. The hydraulic module HYD (A60): Ensure the module is functioning and outputting correctly.

  3. The electrodistributor module (A105-5): This is the specific valve module (Valve 5) throwing the configuration error.

  4. Check the connectors and the continuity of the wiring harnesses linking the HYD (A60) module to the A105-5 electrodistributor.

  5. Check for any short-circuits or open circuits in the CAN network.

  6. Check the sources of energy (fuses, power supply, and ground) to the valve.

  7. Check the component's operating conditions (pressure, temperature, mechanical seizing of the valve spool).

  8. Verify the compatibility of the program versions, settings, and calibration of the hydraulic module.

Repair steps

  1. Document

Note all error codes present on the tractor's CEBIS terminal. Analyze the interaction between them, as CAN bus errors can cascade and generate secondary codes.

  2. Inspect Wiring

Locate the electrodistributor module A105-5 (Valve 5) on the rear hydraulic block. Disconnect the harness and inspect the pins for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or moisture ingress.

  3. Test CAN & Power

Using a multimeter, verify that the valve is receiving proper 12V supply, ground, and that the CAN High/CAN Low lines have proper resistance (typically 60 ohms across the network) and continuity back to the HYD (A60) module.

  4. Calibrate/Update

If the wiring is intact, attempt to recalibrate the hydraulic valves via the diagnostic tool. A configuration error can sometimes be resolved by a software flash or recalibration.

  5. Replace

If the configuration message remains corrupted or in the wrong format, the internal EEPROM/logic of the electrodistributor module (A105-5) has likely failed. Replace the valve module.

  6. Clear & Retest

Clear all error codes from the system, then operate the tractor's hydraulic functions to ensure the anomaly does not return.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Electrodistributor Module (Valve 5) / Spool Valve Element (Component A105-5 / R75)

When sourcing, ensure the replacement electrodistributor matches the flow rate and CAN-bus configuration of the Axion 800 series rear hydraulic stack. Generic equivalents (e.g., 12V, 50L, Open Center elements) exist in the aftermarket, but OEM CAN-bus controlled valves are highly recommended to ensure proper CEBIS integration and to prevent further configuration faults.
