CLAAS Id7816h / 7816h – HYD (A60 / A060): Voltage of the signal of the rear external controls of the rear hydraulic distributor on the right fender is high.
Issue description
The rear external controls of the hydraulic distributor become inactive. This is a safety mechanism to prevent uncommanded hydraulic movements when the system detects a voltage irregularity (typically a short to 12V).
Applies to these machines
3 machines- CLAAS Axion 800 Series (810, 820, 830, 840, 850)
- CLAAS Axion 900 Series (920, 950)
- CLAAS Arion Series (510, 620, 640)
Check the cause
Inspect the rear right external hydraulic control switch (Component U55-1) on the right rear fender
Check the connectors and continuity of the wiring harness linking the U55-1 switch to the HYD A060 module
Test the circuit specifically for a short-circuit to a 12V power source
Visually inspect for water ingress, oxidation, or physical damage at the switch connectors and the HYD module pins
Verify the overall condition of the HYD (A060) module
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during testing.
Access the Switch
Locate the external hydraulic control switch (U55-1) on the right rear fender. Disconnect its wiring harness.
Inspect and Clean
Visually inspect the switch terminals and the harness connector for dirt, corrosion, or moisture. Clean with electrical contact cleaner if necessary.
Test the Switch
Use a multimeter to test the switch for proper resistance and continuity when pressed and released. If the switch is internally shorted, it must be replaced.
Test the Harness
With the switch disconnected, test the wiring harness back to the HYD (A060) module for a short to power (12V). If a short is found, trace the harness along the fender and cab routing to locate and repair the chafed or melted wire.
Inspect the HYD Module
If the switch and harness are good, access the HYD (A060) module. Disconnect the module and check for oxidized pins or water damage. Clean or repair the connector as needed.
Reassemble and Clear Codes
Reconnect all components, reconnect the battery, and turn on the ignition. Clear the fault codes using the CEBIS terminal or a diagnostic tool.
Verify Operation
Test the rear right fender hydraulic controls to ensure the distributor operates normally and the code does not return.
Parts you might need
(1)Rear Right External Hydraulic Control Switch / Fender-Mounted Electrodistributor Contact (Component U55-1)
Ensure you are replacing the right side switch (U55-1), as the left side switch (U56-1 / U56-2) operates on a different circuit and throws different fault codes.
