CLAAS Id781Ch / 781Ch – HYD (A60): Front lifting position sensor signal voltage too high (> 5V)

The voltage of the signal from the front lifting position sensor is too high (> 5V), often due to a short-circuit to power or a failed sensor. As a safety precaution, the front lifting mechanism will operate without position checks (position control is disabled).

   Check the front lifting position sensor (Component B139-1)

   Check the Hydraulic Control Module (HYD A60)

   Check connectors and continuity of the harnesses linking the position sensor to the hydraulic module

   Check for any short-circuits (especially to a 12V/5V supply) or open circuits

   Check the sources of energy including fuses, power supply, and ground

   Check for mechanical seizing of the front hitch or sensor linkage

   Preparation

   Note all error codes present on the tractor to ensure no other codes (like CAN bus errors) are causing this anomaly. Disconnect the battery (negative cable) before performing electrical or mechanical disassembly.

   Harness Inspection

   Inspect the wiring harness between the front lifting position sensor (B139-1) and the HYD (A60) module. Look for chafing, pinched wires, or damaged connector pins.

   Multimeter Testing

   Test the sensor's supply voltage and ground. Test the signal wire for a short to voltage. If the wiring harness is shorted to a power source, repair the damaged section of the harness.

   Sensor Testing

   If the harness is intact, check the internal resistance of the front lifting position sensor (B139-1). If it is internally shorted or fails to read correctly as the hitch moves, it must be replaced.

   Replacement & Adjustment

   If replacing the sensor, install the new unit. Ensure proper mechanical adjustment/calibration during installation (e.g., setting the correct installation dimension, such as 140+1 mm for a standard front linkage or 70+1 mm for a pivoting linkage).

   Reassembly & Calibration

   Reconnect the battery. If required by the CDS (CLAAS Diagnostic System), perform a software calibration for the new front lifting position sensor.

   Clear Codes

   Clear all error codes using the diagnostic tool, then test the tractor's front lifting operation to confirm the anomaly is resolved and the code does not return.
