CLAAS Id7823h / 7823h – HYD (A060) - Hydraulic Control Module: The HYD module no longer transmits any messages on the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus due to a number of CAN frame errors too high on the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus

Issue description

Critical communication failure on the tractor's Controller Area Network (CAN). The HYD module no longer transmits any messages on the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus due to a number of CAN frame errors too high on the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus.

Applies to these machines

  • Axion 810
  • Axion 850
  • Axion 920
  • Axion 950
  • Axion 960
  • Arion 410
  • Arion 430
  • Arion 530
  • Arion 550
  • Arion 610
  • Arion 620
  • Arion 640
  • Arion 650
  • Xerion 3300
  • Xerion 3800

Check the cause

  1. Check the overall health of the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus network for high frame errors

  2. Check the connectors and the continuity of the harnesses linking the HYD (A060) module to the rest of the system

  3. Inspect the wiring for any short-circuits to ground, short-circuits to 12V, or open circuits

  4. Check the sources of energy to the HYD module, specifically verifying the fuses, power supply voltage, and ground connections

Repair steps

  1. Analyze Codes

Note all error codes present on the tractor. Analyze the interaction between them, as a voltage or CAN bus error code can generate secondary module communication codes. Identify the root code at the origin of the anomaly.

  2. Visual Inspection

Locate the HYD (A060) module (often located under the cab trim/upholstery). Inspect the module's connectors for signs of water ingress, oxidized pins, or physical damage.

  3. Electrical Testing

Using a multimeter, verify that the module is receiving proper 12V power and has a solid ground. Test the CAN High and CAN Low pins for proper resistance and voltage.

  4. Component Replacement

If the wiring, power, ground, and CAN bus integrity are all confirmed to be good, the HYD (A060) module itself has likely failed internally and must be replaced.

  5. Software Calibration

If replacing the module, ensure the compatibility of program versions. The new module must be flashed with the correct parameter set for the tractor's specific configuration using the CLAAS Diagnostic System (CDS).

  6. Clear and Retest

Clear all error codes from the system memory, then operate the tractor to ensure the anomaly does not return.
