CLAAS Id7824h / 7824h – HYD (A60): The CLAAS vehicle CAN bus component of the CLAAS module is faulty

Issue description

The internal CAN bus communication transceiver or associated circuitry inside the hydraulic control module has failed, preventing it from properly communicating on the tractor's main vehicle CAN bus network.

Applies to these machines

  • CLAAS Axion 800 Series (810, 830, 840, 850, 870)
  • CLAAS Axion 900 Series (920, 930, 940, 950, 960)
  • CLAAS Arion 400 Series (410, 430)
  • CLAAS Arion 500 / 600 Series (510, 540, 610, 640)

Check the cause

  1. Check if other CAN bus errors are present (such as Id7821h, Id7822h, or Id7823h). If multiple modules are dropping off the network, the issue is likely the physical CAN bus wiring rather than the HYD module itself.

  2. Inspect the connectors at the HYD (A60) module and check the continuity of the harnesses linking the module to the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus.

  3. Test the CAN bus network for short-circuits to ground, short-circuits to 12V, or open circuits.

  4. Check the sources of energy to the HYD (A60) module, including all relevant fuses, power supply lines, and ground connections.

  5. Check the compatibility of program versions and settings. Clear all error codes, operate the tractor, and see if the anomaly returns.

Repair steps

  1. Power down the tractor and locate the HYD (A60) module.

Location varies slightly by model, typically housed in the right-hand console or rear cab electronics bay.

  2. Disconnect the main wiring harnesses from the HYD module.

Disconnect connectors such as J123 and J124.

  3. Perform a pin-out test on the CAN High and CAN Low pins.

Verify network integrity and ensure the module is receiving stable 12V power and ground.

  4. Confirm the internal CAN component of the HYD (A60) module is faulty.

This is confirmed if the wiring harness, fuses, and network resistance (typically 60 ohms across the CAN bus) are all within specification.

  5. Unbolt and remove the defective HYD (A60) module.

  6. Install the replacement module and reconnect the wiring harnesses.

  7. Connect the CLAAS Diagnostic System (CDS).

Flash the correct parameter set/configuration to the new module and calibrate the hydraulic electro-distributors.

  8. Clear the fault codes and test the hydraulic functions.

Test functions such as linkage and spool valves to confirm the repair.
