CLAAS Id782Ch / 782Ch – HYD (A60) Hydraulic Control Module: CAN Bus Communication Failure: HYD (A60) Missing Data from MFA (A100)

Issue description

The HYD (A60) Hydraulic Module has not received expected command signals from the MFA (A100) Multifunction Armrest Module over the CAN bus network. As a safety precaution, Electrodistributors 4 and 5 are rendered inactive.

Check the cause

  1. Check the MFA (A100) Armrest Module: Verify that the armrest is powering on and that no other codes are logged specifically against the A100 module (which would indicate the armrest itself is dead rather than a wiring issue).

  2. Check the CLAAS Vehicle CAN Bus Network: Test the CAN-High and CAN-Low lines for proper resistance (typically 60 ohms across the network) and voltage.

  3. Harness Continuity & Connectors: Check the connectors and continuity of the wiring harnesses linking the MFA (A100) and the HYD (A60) modules.

  4. Short-Circuit / Open Circuit Checks: Inspect the harness for any pinched wires, open circuits, or short-circuits to ground/power.

  5. Energy Sources: Check the power supply, ground, and primary fuses for both the HYD (A60) and MFA (A100) modules.

Repair steps

  1. Document All Codes

Note all error codes present on the tractor. Analyze the interaction between them, as a primary power failure to the MFA armrest will generate this HYD code as a secondary symptom.

  2. Inspect Physical Connections

Locate the HYD (A60) module and the MFA (A100) armrest connections. Disconnect the plugs and inspect the pins for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or moisture ingress.

  3. Test Power and Ground

Using a multimeter, verify that the HYD (A60) module is receiving steady 12V power and has a solid ground.

  4. Perform CAN Bus Wiring Test

Pin out the CAN communication lines between the armrest and the hydraulic module. Repair any broken wires or replace the damaged harness section.

  5. Clear Codes and Retest

If a wiring repair is made, use the CLAAS Diagnostic System (CDS) to clear all error codes. Restart the tractor and operate the Electropilot joystick to see if Electrodistributors 4 and 5 respond and if the anomaly reappears.

  6. Module Replacement

If the wiring, power, and grounds are perfect but the HYD module still cannot read the CAN bus (or the MFA is failing to broadcast), the faulty module must be replaced and flashed with the correct parameter set via CDS.
