CLAAS Id784Ch / 784Ch – HYD (A60) - Hydraulic Control Module: Front hydraulic control buttons and F3/F4 function buttons missing or not communicating
Issue description
The F3 and F4 buttons on the joystick are unavailable for hydraulic functions (such as controlling the third service of the loader or forward/reverse functions). The external hydraulic controls located on the tractor fenders normally remain available and operational.

Check the cause
Test the S230 (F3 function switch) and S231 (F4 function switch) located on the joystick/MFA
Check the output voltage and resistance of the S230 and S231 switches
Check the connectors and the continuity of the wiring harnesses linking the MFA (A100) armrest module to the HYD (A60) module
Inspect the wiring for any short-circuits to ground/12V or open circuits
Verify the sources of energy, including fuses, power supply, and ground connections to the MFA
Repair steps
Note and Analyze
Document all active error codes on the tractor, as CAN bus errors (like those from the BDG A103 module) can sometimes cascade and cause missing module codes.
Access the MFA
Carefully disassemble the joystick/multifunction armrest housing to access the S230 and S231 button contacts.
Test the Contacts
Using a multimeter, verify if the S230 and S231 buttons are successfully closing the circuit when pressed. If the output voltage is incorrect or the circuit remains open, the switches/buttons have failed.
Repair/Replace
If the wiring harness is damaged, repair the broken wires or connectors. If the buttons themselves are dead, replace the switches or the joystick assembly.
Clear and Retest
Once the repair is made, clear all error codes from the CEBIS/diagnostic system. Test the tractor's F3 and F4 hydraulic functions to ensure the anomaly does not reappear.
Parts you might need
(3)F3 Function Switch (S230) / F4 Function Switch (S231) / Joystick Push Buttons
Specific standalone OEM part numbers for just the S230/S231 micro-switches are not published in the standard parts catalogs, as they are integrated into the MFA (A100) Multifunction Armrest or the CMOTION Joystick assembly.
MFA (A100) Multifunction Armrest
Dealers typically replace the entire joystick handle or the MFA module.
CMOTION Joystick assembly
Dealers typically replace the entire joystick handle or the MFA module.
