CLAAS 787Ch: Short-circuit to the 12V on the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus

Issue description

A short-circuit to the 12V power supply is affecting the CAN bus communication on the CLAAS vehicle. The Cebis terminal is no longer emitting signals on the CAN bus, although it can still receive signals.

Check the cause

  1. The wiring and connections related to the CAN bus

  2. The 12V power supply circuit connected to the CAN bus

  3. The Cebis terminal for signs of damage or electrical faults

Repair steps

  1. Inspect the CAN bus wiring for physical damage or exposed conductors

Look for any frayed, cut, or damaged wires that may be causing the short-circuit.

  2. Check the 12V power supply circuit for continuity and proper insulation

Ensure that the 12V line is not coming into contact with other conductive parts or the vehicle chassis.

  3. Test the Cebis terminal for functionality

Verify if the terminal is capable of sending signals on the CAN bus after addressing the short-circuit.
