Id787Eh / 787Eh

CLAAS Id787Eh / 787Eh – MFT (A30) module: CLAAS vehicle CAN bus component of the MFT module is faulty

Issue description

The internal CAN bus communication circuitry within the terminal module has failed or is experiencing a critical communication error on the vehicle's network.

Applies to these machines

  • Arion 640-510
  • Arion 650
  • Arion 620
  • Arion 550
  • Arion 530
  • Axion 800
  • Axion 810
  • Axion 820
  • Axion 830
  • Axion 840
  • Axion 850

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the connectors and check the continuity of the harnesses linking the Cebis terminal to the rest of the CAN network.

  2. Test the wiring for any short-circuits (to 12V or to ground) or open circuits.

  3. Verify the sources of energy to the MFT (A30) module, including all relevant fuses, power supply lines, and ground connections.

  4. Verify the compatibility of the program versions, settings, and calibration of the Cebis terminal.

  5. Check if other CAN bus error codes are present (such as Id787Ch or Id787Dh, which indicate CAN bus short circuits). If a wiring short is present, it must be resolved first as it can trigger the 787Eh code.

Repair steps

  1. Document and Analyze

Note all error codes present on the tractor. Identify if Id787Eh is the root anomaly or if it was generated by a physical short on the CAN bus (e.g., damaged harness).

  2. Isolate the Network

Disconnect the Cebis terminal module MFT (A30) and test the CAN bus wiring harness for standard resistance (usually 60 ohms across CAN High and CAN Low) and ensure there is no short to ground or power.

  3. Test the Module

If the vehicle's CAN bus wiring, fuses, and power supplies test perfectly, the internal CAN component of the MFT (A30) module is confirmed faulty.

  4. Replace the Component

Remove the defective Cebis terminal module and install a replacement unit.

  5. Clear and Retest

Clear all error codes from the system memory. Start the tractor and operate the Cebis terminal to ensure the anomaly does not reappear.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Cebis Terminal Module / MFT (A30)

Specific part numbers vary heavily by exact chassis serial number and software version. The new module will likely require dealer-level programming/calibration to match the specific tractor's configuration and software version.
