CLAAS Id787Fh / 787Fh – MFT (A30) - Cebis terminal module: The Cebis terminal no longer emits messages over the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus

Issue description

The terminal is experiencing excessive data frame errors, so it shuts down its transmission on the network to prevent corrupting other modules, which can cause associated functions to become inactive or force the machine into a degraded operating mode.

Check the cause

  1. Check the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus network wiring harness for physical damage, open circuits, or short-circuits to ground or 12V

  2. Verify the power supply, ground connections, and fuses leading to the Cebis terminal module (MFT A30)

  3. Check for related codes (such as Id7700h or Id7701h) which indicate a short-circuit to the ground on the CAN bus or a failure of the BDG (A103) communication module

  4. Verify the compatibility of the program versions, settings, and calibration of the Cebis terminal

Repair steps

  1. Connect Diagnostic Tool

Hook up the CLAAS Diagnostic System (CDS) / METADIAG to the machine to confirm Id787Fh is active and to check for other module communication errors.

  2. Isolate the CAN Bus

Disconnect the Cebis terminal (MFT A30) and test the CAN bus resistance at the connector (with the battery disconnected). A healthy CAN bus should read approximately 60 ohms across CAN High and CAN Low.

  3. Inspect Wiring

If resistance is out of spec, trace the CAN lines from the Cebis terminal to the main harness, looking for chafed wires or corroded pins. Repair any damaged wiring.

  4. Test Power and Ground

Turn the key ON and verify that the Cebis terminal is receiving proper 12V operating voltage and has a clean ground.

  5. Replace the Terminal

If the wiring, power, and ground are all within specification, the internal CAN transceiver inside the Cebis terminal module (MFT A30) has failed. The terminal must be replaced or sent out for board-level repair.

  6. Clear Codes

After replacing the terminal or repairing the wiring, use the CDS tool to clear the error codes and verify that the Cebis terminal is successfully communicating on the network again.
