CLAAS Id7883h / 7883h – EXT (A62): CLAAS vehicle CAN bus component of the EXT module is faulty

The EXT module stops transmitting messages on the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus due to an excessively high number of CAN frame errors on the network.

   Check the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus network for communication issues, excessive frame errors, or network overload

   Check the EXT (A62) module for physical condition and secure connections

   Check the connectors and continuity of the wiring harnesses linking the EXT module to the CAN bus

   Check for any short-circuits (to ground or 12V) or open circuits on the CAN lines

   Check the sources of energy to the EXT module, including fuses, main power supply, and ground connections

   Check the compatibility of program versions, settings, and calibration

   Visual Inspection

   Locate the EXT (A62) module. Inspect the module's wiring harness and connectors for corrosion, backed-out pins, or moisture ingress.

   Test Power and Ground

   Using a multimeter, verify that the EXT module is receiving proper 12V battery voltage and has a solid ground connection. Check all related fuses.

   Test the CAN Bus

   Measure the resistance across the CAN High and CAN Low pins (with the battery disconnected) to ensure the network's terminating resistors are intact (typically ~60 ohms). Check for shorts to ground or shorts to power on the CAN lines.

   Module Replacement

   If the wiring, power, ground, and CAN bus integrity all test good, the CAN transceiver inside the EXT (A62) module has likely failed. Replace the EXT module.

   Clear and Retest

   After repairing the wiring or replacing the module, clear all error codes using the CLAAS Diagnostic System (CDS). Operate the tractor to verify the anomaly does not return.
