CLAAS Id78AEh / 78AEh – EXT (A62) - External Function Module: Signal inconsistency between CSM function and CSM switch

The external function module detects a mismatch between the internal status of the Claas Sequence Management (CSM) function and the physical status of the CSM switch (Component S177).

   Test the Claas Sequence Management switch (S177) for proper mechanical operation and electrical continuity

   Verify the connections at the external function module EXT (A62)

   Inspect the wiring harness between the S177 switch and the A62 module for any shorts, open circuits, or damaged pins

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect battery power to prevent short circuits.

   Access the Switch

   Remove the necessary trim panels on the side console or multifunction armrest to access the back of the CSM switch (S177).

   Inspect Connections

   Check the connector at the switch for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or wire chafing.

   Test the Switch

   Using a multimeter, test the S177 switch to ensure it correctly opens and closes the circuit according to its physical position. If the switch is internally shorted or fails to change states, it must be replaced.

   Test the Harness

   If the switch tests good, check the continuity of the wiring from the switch connector to the EXT (A62) module connector.

   Module Verification

   If the switch and wiring are both in good working order, the fault lies within the EXT (A62) module itself, which may need to be replaced or reflashed by a certified CLAAS dealer.

   Clear and Retest

   Reassemble the components, restore battery power, clear the fault codes via the CEBIS terminal, and test the CSM sequence to verify the repair.
