CLAAS Id78BCh / 78BCh (852) – TR3 Transmission Module: Front power take-off disconnected during a sequence CSM

The front power take-off (PTO) becomes inoperative. The system is designed to wait 20 seconds for the tractor to initialize, after which the CSM sequence is automatically relaunched.

   Wait 20 seconds to see if the tractor initializes and relaunches the sequence automatically

   Manually reset the CSM if nothing happens after 20 seconds

   Use a CLAAS Diagnostic System (CDS) to check for communication loss between the TR3 transmission module (A57-3) and the EXT external function module (A62)

   Check the status of the 'CLAAS Sequence Management' switch (Component S177)

   Check the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus network for frame errors or short circuits to ground/12V

   Hard Reset

   Turn off the ignition and the main battery switch. Wait for at least 30 seconds, then restart the engine to allow the CAN bus and modules to perform a clean boot.

   Test the CSM Switch

   Switch the CSM switch (S177) to "play" before selecting a sequence. If the switch does not register on the dashboard or CDS, remove the switch panel and test S177 for electrical continuity.

   Inspect Wiring Harness

   Inspect the wiring harness and 7-pin ISO connectors linking the TR3 module (located behind the driver's seat), the EXT module, and the HYD (A60) hydraulic module. Look for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose pins.

   Software Update

   If wiring and switches are intact, connect the CLAAS Diagnostic System (CDS). Check if a software update or re-calibration is available for the TR3 and EXT modules, as CAN timeout errors can sometimes be resolved via flashing.

   Module Replacement

   If the TR3 or EXT module has suffered an internal hardware failure (often accompanied by other CAN bus codes like Id78BDh/853), replace the faulty module and program it to the tractor using the CDS.
