Id78D7h / 78D7h

CLAAS Id78D7h / 78D7h – EXT (A62): The CSM sequence cannot be started. Speed exceeds 20 km/h.

Issue description

The CSM (CLAAS Sequence Management) sequence cannot be started because the vehicle speed exceeds the programmed safety threshold of 20 km/h. This is typically an operational limitation warning rather than a hardware failure.

Applies to these machines

  • Arion 510-640
  • Axion 800
  • Axion 810
  • Axion 830
  • Axion 840
  • Axion 850
  • Axion 920
  • Axion 950

Check the cause

  1. Verify Operator Use: Confirm with the operator if they are trying to trigger the headland management sequence while driving over 20 km/h.

  2. Verify Speed Sensor Data: If the tractor is stationary or moving slowly (under 20 km/h) but the code still triggers, check the live vehicle speed data on the CAN bus via the diagnostic terminal.

  3. Check CAN Bus Communication: Verify that the CAN 'Speed' message is being properly sent from the dashboard module (DBD A101) to the EXT (A62) module.

  4. Inspect Speed Sensors: Check the physical condition of the speed sensors (radar, GPS, or wheel speed sensors) for damage or debris that might cause erratic, falsely high speed readings.

  5. Check the CSM Switch: Verify the integrity of the 'CLAAS Sequence Management' switch (S177) to ensure it isn't sending erratic activation signals.

Repair steps

  1. Operational Correction

Instruct the operator to reduce the vehicle speed to below 20 km/h before pressing the CSM activation buttons on the CMOTION or ELECTROPILOT joystick. In most cases, this clears the condition.

  2. Sensor Diagnosis

Connect a diagnostic laptop to the tractor's diagnostic port. Monitor the speed output from the radar, wheel sensors, and GPS.

  3. Wiring Inspection

If the speed reading is erratic or spiked above 20 km/h while moving slowly, trace the wiring harness from the faulty speed sensor to the DBD (A101) dashboard module. Look for chafed wires or loose connector pins.

  4. Sensor Replacement

If the wiring is intact but the sensor outputs a falsely high speed, replace the faulty speed sensor (radar or wheel sensor).

  5. Clear Codes

After replacing any faulty sensors or correcting the operator's driving parameters, clear the error codes from the EXT (A62) module and test drive the tractor below 20 km/h to ensure the CSM sequence activates normally.
