Id78DAh / 78DAh

CLAAS Id78DAh / 78DAh – EXT (A62) - External function module: The CSM (CLAAS Sequence Management) sequence cannot be started.

Issue description

The system has detected that the battery voltage is too low to safely initiate or maintain the automated sequence.

Applies to these machines

  • CLAAS Axion 800 Series (e.g., 810, 850)
  • CLAAS Axion 900 Series (e.g., 920, 950)
  • CLAAS Arion 500 / 600 Series (e.g., 510, 640)

Check the cause

  1. Verify the battery voltage directly at the battery posts. Check all fuses, main power supplies, and ground connections feeding the EXT (A62) module.

  2. Check the connectors and continuity of the wiring harnesses linking the battery, alternator, and the EXT (A62) module.

  3. Test the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus network and the EXT module wiring for any short-circuits or open circuits.

  4. Check the compatibility of the program versions, settings, and calibration of the EXT module if the voltage supply is physically fine but the module still reports low voltage.

Repair steps

  1. Test the Battery

Use a multimeter to measure the static battery voltage (should be ~12.4V - 12.6V). If the voltage is low, charge the battery and retest. Replace the battery if it fails a load test.

  2. Inspect Terminals

Clean the battery terminals and ensure the ground strap attached to the tractor chassis is tight and free of corrosion.

  3. Test the Charging System

Start the tractor and measure the voltage across the battery terminals. A healthy alternator should output between 13.5V and 14.5V. If the voltage remains at or below 12V while running, the alternator is failing and causing the low voltage condition.

  4. Verify Module Power

Back-probe the power and ground pins at the EXT (A62) module connector to ensure it is receiving full system voltage. If there is a voltage drop, trace the wiring back to the fuse panel to repair the damaged wire or corroded connector.

  5. Clear Codes and Retest

Once the voltage issue is resolved (via battery replacement, alternator replacement, or wiring repair), clear the fault codes and attempt to start a CSM sequence to verify the repair.
