CLAAS 7F02h – DBD: No Communication from HYD Module

Issue description

A communication breakdown has occurred on the vehicle's CAN bus network. The instrument panel module (DBD) has not received any message from the hydraulic module (HYD) for a period exceeding 5 seconds, indicating a total loss of communication between the controller and the HYD module.

Applies to these machines

  • CLAAS Arion 640
  • CLAAS Arion 510

Check the cause

  1. Perform a visual inspection of the machine for obvious damage to wiring harnesses and connectors

  2. Perform a CAN Bus Resistance Check (Power Off) by measuring resistance between CAN-H and CAN-L wires (expected ~60 Ohms)

  3. Perform a CAN Bus Voltage Check (Power On) by measuring DC voltage between CAN-H/CAN-L and chassis ground (expected ~2.5V on both lines)

  4. Inspect connectors at the HYD (A60) and DBD (A101) modules for corrosion, bent pins, or loose connections

  5. Check for proper power and ground at the HYD (A60) module connector

  6. Check continuity of the CAN-H and CAN-L wires between the HYD (A60) module and a known good point on the CAN bus network

Repair steps

  1. Perform resistance and voltage checks

Follow the diagnostic checks to determine if the issue is a network-wide problem (e.g., incorrect resistance) or localized.

  2. Isolate the HYD (A60) module

If the CAN bus wiring appears intact, disconnect the HYD (A60) module from the network to isolate it.

  3. Re-check bus resistance

With the A60 module disconnected, re-measure the bus resistance. If the resistance returns to a normal value (60 Ohms), it strongly indicates an internal short within the HYD (A60) module.

  4. Check for power and ground

If bus readings are normal, verify that the HYD (A60) module is receiving correct voltage and has a solid ground connection at its harness connector. Repair any wiring issues found.

  5. Replace the faulty component

Replace the HYD (A60) module if it is internally shorted or has an internal power failure. If all wiring and the HYD module test correctly, replace the DBD (A101) module (less common).

  6. Post-repair verification

After replacing a module or repairing wiring, clear all fault codes and run the tractor to ensure the 7F02h code does not reappear.
