Deutz-Fahr 100 – ECU (EMR3, EMR4, EMR5): Oil Pressure Above Target Range
Issue description
Fault code 100 (SPN 100, FMI 0) indicates that the engine oil pressure is measured to be above the normal working area. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) triggers this fault when the signal from the oil pressure sensor exceeds the pre-defined maximum threshold for the current engine operating conditions. This is a critical fault, as excessively high oil pressure can lead to damaged seals, blown filters, and other mechanical failures.
Applies to these machines
11 machines- Agrofarm series
- 912 engine
- 913 engine
- 1011 engine
- 2011 engine
- 2012 engine
- TCD 2.9
- TCD 3.6
- TCD 4.1
- TCD 6.1
- TCD 7.8
Check the cause
Verify engine oil level and condition using the dipstick; look for overfilling (which causes aeration) or fuel/coolant contamination.
Visually inspect the oil pressure sensor, electrical connector, and wiring harness for damage, corrosion, chafing, or oil leaking through the sensor body.
Safely disconnect the electronic oil pressure sensor and plumb a calibrated mechanical pressure gauge into the sensor port.
Start the engine and compare the mechanical gauge reading to the service manual specifications to determine if the fault is electronic (sensor/wiring) or mechanical (actual high pressure).
Repair steps
Repair wiring or replace sensor
If the mechanical gauge shows normal pressure (electronic fault), repair any damaged wiring harness sections. If wiring is intact, replace the faulty oil pressure sensor, clear codes, and verify.
Check oil pressure relief valve
If the mechanical gauge confirms genuinely high pressure (mechanical fault), inspect the oil pressure relief valve in the oil pump or engine block for sticking or debris. Replace if necessary.
Inspect and replace oil pump
If the relief valve is functioning correctly but mechanical pressure remains too high, the oil pump itself may be defective and require replacement.
Check for oil gallery blockages
If the pump and relief valve are normal, inspect for blockages in the oil galleries downstream of the sensor that could cause a localized high-pressure reading.
