Deutz-Fahr 100 – ECU: Oil Pressure Sensor Circuit Fault
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected a loss of signal (cable break) or an electrical short in the oil pressure sensor circuit. This open or shorted circuit prevents the ECU from receiving a valid sensor reading, which triggers a dashboard warning light and can lead to improper operation or failure of the affected component.
Applies to these machines
1 machine- Agrofarm
Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors associated with the oil pressure sensor for cuts, abrasions, or corrosion
Ensure the oil pressure sensor connector is securely plugged in by disconnecting and reconnecting it to verify a good connection
Perform an ECU reset by turning off the ignition, waiting for the ECU to completely shut down, and turning it back on to see if the error remains active
Use a multimeter to check the wiring for continuity (to identify a cable break) and for short circuits between the signal wire and ground or power wires
Repair steps
Isolate electrical system
Disconnect the battery terminals before working on the electrical system to prevent short circuits.
Locate sensor
Locate the oil pressure sensor on the engine block. The exact location will vary depending on the specific engine model.
Test sensor
If the wiring is confirmed to be intact, test the sensor according to manufacturer specifications or swap it with a known good sensor for testing purposes.
Repair wiring harness
If a cable break or short circuit is found, repair the damaged section using appropriate connectors and heat shrink for a durable seal. Replace the harness section if the damage is extensive.
Replace sensor
If the sensor itself is determined to be faulty, replace it with a new unit.
Verify repair
Reconnect the battery, clear the fault codes from the ECU memory using a diagnostic tool like DEUTZ SERDIA, and start the engine to verify that the fault has been resolved.
