Deutz-Fahr 102 – ECU: Outside Target Range with System Reaction
Issue description
The engine control unit (ECU) has detected that the charge air pressure (boost pressure) is either higher or lower than the expected target value for the current engine operating conditions. This discrepancy between the actual measured boost pressure and the ECU's calculated target pressure triggers a system reaction, such as an engine power derate, to protect the engine from potential damage.

Check the cause
Check the charge air system for any visible damage, such as cracked or loose hoses and clamps, which could cause leaks
Inspect the charge air pressure sensor (boost sensor) for soot buildup or other contamination that could lead to incorrect readings
Perform a Key On, Engine Off (KOEO) test using a diagnostic tool to compare the 'Boost Pressure' reading with the 'Ambient Pressure' reading (values should be nearly identical, approximately 14.5 psi at sea level)
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the charge air pressure sensor for breaks, short circuits, or corrosion
Repair steps
Address charge air leaks
If any leaks were found in the charge air cooler or associated hoses during the visual inspection, repair or replace the damaged components.
Clean the sensor
If the charge air pressure sensor is contaminated with soot, carefully clean it to restore accurate readings.
Replace the sensor
If the KOEO test indicates a faulty sensor (significant difference between boost and ambient pressure), or if cleaning does not resolve the issue, replace the Charge Air (Boost) Pressure Sensor.
Repair wiring
If the inspection revealed damage to the wiring or connectors, repair or replace the affected sections of the harness.
Clear fault codes
After performing the repairs, use a diagnostic tool to clear the fault code from the ECU's memory.
Verify the repair
Start the engine and operate the machine to ensure the fault code does not reappear and that engine performance has returned to normal.
