Deutz-Fahr Code 60 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Burner Dosing Valve (DV2): Short circuit to battery.
Issue description
The engine management system has detected that the electrical circuit controlling the Burner Dosing Valve (DV2) is receiving unintended battery voltage, indicating a short circuit on the high side.
Applies to these machines
10 machines- 5090
- 5100
- 5110
- 5120
- Agrotron series
- TCD 2.9
- TCD 3.6
- TCD 4.1

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness running from the Engine ECU to the Burner Dosing Valve (DV2) for chafed insulation, melted wires, or pinch points.
Disconnect the plug at the DV2 valve and the ECU to check for water intrusion, corrosion, or bent pins.
Use a multimeter to test the DV2 circuit for continuity to battery voltage with the key ON (engine off).
Test the internal resistance of the Burner Dosing Valve itself to determine if the internal solenoid is shorted.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.
Locate the Valve
Locate the Burner Dosing Valve (DV2) mounted on or near the exhaust aftertreatment burner assembly.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical connector from the DV2 valve.
Harness Repair
If the diagnostic tests revealed a short in the wiring, repair the damaged section of the harness or replace the harness segment.
Valve Replacement
If the valve itself is internally shorted, unbolt/unscrew the DV2 valve from the burner unit. Be prepared to catch a small amount of residual diesel fuel.
Installation
Install the new Burner Dosing Valve and torque to OEM specifications. Reconnect the electrical harness.
Clear and Test
Reconnect the battery. Use a diagnostic tool (such as Deutz SerDia or a compatible Jaltest scanner) to clear Code 60 / SPN 523911. Run the engine and initiate a stationary DPF regeneration to verify the burner ignites and the dosing valve operates without throwing the code.
