Deutz-Fahr M160 – Engine ECU (EMR - Engine Management Regulator): Injector Cylinder 1: Open circuit / Injector 1 unplugged
Issue description
The engine control module is unable to detect the electrical presence of the fuel injector on cylinder 1, indicating a break in the electrical circuit, an unplugged connector, or a failed internal solenoid within the injector itself.
Applies to these machines
9 machines- 5D VSF TTV Series (Tier 4i)
- 5D Series
- 5G Series
- 6C Series
- Agrotron series
- 5080 DF/DS/DV Ecoline
- 5115 D TTV
- 5090 G
- Machines utilizing the Deutz TCD 3.6 L4 engine
Check the cause
Check the electrical connector at Injector 1 to ensure it is securely plugged in and not loose.
Inspect the wiring harness between Injector 1 and the Engine ECU (specifically ECU pin A02 or corresponding) for continuity, cable breaks, or short circuits.
Test the injector's internal resistance with a multimeter to confirm if the open circuit is inside the injector body.
Switch the ignition off, wait until the ECU has completely shut down, and switch the ignition back on to see if the error remains active (verifying it is a hard fault and not a temporary glitch).
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Park the tractor on a level surface, set the parking brake, and turn off the ignition.
Access the Injectors
Open the hood and locate the fuel injectors on top of the engine.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or corroded connector at the injector harness, repair or replace the damaged wiring section and re-test.
Remove the Faulty Injector
If the wiring is intact, the injector itself has failed. Disconnect the electrical connector and the high-pressure fuel lines from Injector 1.
Install the New Injector
Remove the old injector and install the replacement. Reconnect the fuel lines and torque them to OEM specifications.
Re-establish Connections
Plug the electrical harness back into the new injector.
Clear Codes and Test
Turn the ignition on, clear the M160 fault code from the EMR, start the engine, and check for fuel leaks and proper engine operation.
