Deutz-Fahr M90 – Engine ECU (EMR): Low Fuel Pressure Sensor Circuit Failure

The engine controller has detected that the voltage signal from the low fuel pressure sensor is outside the plausible target range, typically caused by the sensor's signal wire being short-circuited to ground (GND) or short-circuited to battery voltage (+12V).

   Inspect the wiring harness between the low fuel pressure sensor and the Engine ECU for chafing, breaks, or melted insulation (specifically check control wiring pin K82 on the ECU for short circuits)

   Disconnect the sensor and inspect the plug for water ingress, corrosion, or backed-out pins

   With the key ON, check the sensor connector to ensure it is receiving the correct 5V reference voltage and ground from the ECU

   If the wiring tests good (no shorts to ground or +12V in the harness), evaluate the sensor itself for internal failure

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the low fuel pressure sensor. On Deutz engines, this is typically located at the fuel filter outlet or directly on the low-pressure fuel feed line.

   Harness Repair

   If your diagnostic checks revealed a short circuit in the wiring harness (e.g., rubbed through on the engine block), repair the damaged section of the wire, apply heat-shrink tubing, and secure it away from vibration points.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring is intact, the sensor is defective. Unplug the electrical connector, unscrew the faulty sensor (have a rag ready to catch residual fuel), and install the new sensor.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition key to the ON position. You may need to use a diagnostic tool (such as Deutz SerDia) to clear the fault memory, or cycle the key after a successful repair to move the code from Active to Stored.
