Deutz-Fahr T13 – Transmission ECU / Shuttle ECU: Transmission oil temperature sensor is shorting to ground

The control unit has detected the transmission oil temperature sensor is shorting to ground. It can also trigger if the sensor is disconnected or shorting to a positive feed. When active, the tractor's system will typically continue to function, but the machine may move in sudden jerks when changing gears or changing direction.

   Inspect the contacts on connector 'X54' at the shuttle ECU and connector 'X58' at the transmission oil temperature sensor for looseness, corrosion, or damage.

   Check the wiring harness between the sensor and the ECU for a physical short circuit to ground or a cable break.

   Test the transmission oil temperature sensor to verify if it is functioning correctly or if it has failed internally (referencing the specific values in the tractor's wiring diagram).

   Safety First

   Allow the transmission oil and engine coolant to cool down completely before carrying out any work on the hydraulic or transmission systems.

   Access the Sensor

   Locate the transmission oil temperature sensor on the transmission housing.

   Inspect and Clean

   Disconnect connector X58 at the sensor and X54 at the Shuttle ECU. Clean the contacts and repair any chafed wiring that may be shorting to the tractor's chassis (ground).

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring is intact but the sensor fails testing (internal short), unscrew the faulty transmission oil temperature sensor and install the replacement.

   Reset the ECU

   Switch the ignition key off, wait a few seconds until the ECU has completely shut off, and then switch the ignition key on again. Check if the error code T13 is still active.
