T47

Deutz-Fahr T47 – Hydraulic Shuttle control unit: Wheel Speed Sensor Disconnected

Issue description

The wheel speed sensor is disconnected (open circuit). The system cannot detect the vehicle's speed, resulting in the tractor entering a protective mode where the engine or vehicle speed is limited.

Applies to these machines

  • Agroplus 310, 320, 410, and 420 Profiline series tractors
  • Deutz-Fahr Agrofarm series (410, 420, 430, 85-100)
  • Deutz-Fahr Agrotron series (M, K, X, MKIII, 130-180.7, 6 series)
  • Deutz-Fahr Agroplus series
  • Deutz-Fahr Agrolux series
  • Deutz-Fahr Agrokid series
  • SAME Explorer
  • SAME Dorado
  • SAME Iron

Check the cause

  1. Stop the engine, remove the key, and disconnect the battery terminals (negative first) for safety

  2. Visually inspect the wheel speed sensor connector for poor contact, corrosion, or physical damage

  3. Check the wiring harness continuity between the sensor and the Hydraulic Shuttle ECU, specifically checking ECU Pin 11 and Pin 12 for open circuits, shorts, or intermittent signals

  4. If the wiring and pins are intact and have good continuity, verify the sensor itself as it is likely faulty

Repair steps

  1. Prepare the tractor

Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, turn off the engine, and allow the transmission/hydraulic oil to cool down.

  2. Disconnect the battery

Disconnect the battery (negative terminal first).

  3. Clean the sensor area

Clean the area surrounding the wheel speed sensor (typically located on the transmission housing, gearbox, or wheel hub) to prevent dirt from entering the system when the sensor is removed.

  4. Unplug the sensor

Unplug the electrical connector from the speed sensor.

  5. Remove the faulty sensor

Unbolt and carefully withdraw the faulty speed sensor from its mounting port.

  6. Lubricate the new sensor

Coat the O-ring/seal of the new sensor with a thin film of clean transmission/engine oil before installation.

  7. Install the new sensor

Insert the new wheel speed sensor and tighten the retaining bolt to the specified torque.

  8. Reconnect the electrical connector

Reconnect the electrical connector securely, ensuring the wiring is not twisted or tangled.

  9. Reconnect the battery

Reconnect the battery (positive terminal first, then negative).

  10. Clear codes and test drive

Clear the fault codes using a diagnostic tool and test drive the tractor to ensure the T47 code does not return and speed limitations are lifted.
