Deutz-Fahr T70 – Hydraulic Shuttle ECU: Clutch pedal potentiometer incorrect calibration data

The control unit has detected that the clutch pedal position sensor (potentiometer) is not correctly calibrated, preventing the system from accurately determining the physical position of the clutch pedal.

   Inspect the clutch pedal potentiometer, its connector, and the wiring harness for physical damage, corrosion, or loose connections.

   Connect a compatible diagnostic tool (such as ART, SERDIA, Jaltest, or Bosch ESI[truck]) to verify the fault.

   Access the Transmission/Shuttle ECU live data and monitor 'Clutch Pedal Potentiometer Signal [V]' and 'Clutch Pedal Position [%]'. Check for smooth, linear voltage changes as the pedal is depressed. If the signal is erratic, drops out, or is completely dead, the sensor is faulty.

   If the live data is smooth but out of range, attempt to run the clutch pedal calibration procedure before condemning the part.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a hard, flat, level surface and apply the parking brake. Ensure the operator is sitting in the driving seat (the seat switch must be activated for calibration procedures).

   Replacement

   Disconnect the battery. Locate the clutch pedal potentiometer on the clutch pedal linkage. Unplug the electrical connector, unbolt the faulty sensor, and install the new OEM potentiometer. Reconnect the battery.

   Electronic Calibration

   Connect your diagnostic tool (ART, SERDIA, or equivalent) and navigate to the Transmission / Hydraulic Shuttle ECU menu.

   Run the Procedure

   Select the 'Clutch pedal calibration' or 'Manual calibration of the shuttle clutches' routine. Follow the on-screen prompts to set the pedal engagement positions (typically requiring you to fully depress and release the pedal so the ECU can learn the 0% and 100% voltage limits).

   Verification

   Clear the T70 fault code. Test drive the tractor to ensure the hydraulic shuttle engages smoothly in forward and reverse without jerking or slipping.
