Deutz-Fahr T76 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU) or main tractor ECU: Proportional SV disconnected

The system has detected an open circuit (a disconnection) in one of the proportional solenoid valves that control the transmission. This means the control unit is sending a signal to the valve but is not detecting a complete electrical circuit, typically caused by a broken wire, an unplugged connector, or a burnt-out solenoid coil.

   Verify the Code: Confirm the exact code on the instrument panel. Ensure it is T76 (Proportional SV disconnected) and not a related short-circuit code (like T77 or T79).

   Visual Wiring Inspection: Locate the transmission control valve block on the side of the transmission housing. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the proportional solenoid valves for severed wires, rubbed insulation, or unplugged connectors.

   Connector Check: Disconnect the harness from the solenoid and check for water ingress, dirt, or corroded pins.

   Coil Resistance Test: Use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the two pins of the proportional solenoid valve. An infinite reading (OL) confirms the internal coil is burnt out.

   Power Supply Check: Check the transmission control fuses (typically 8A fuses in the main fuse box) to ensure the circuit is receiving power.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, lower any implements, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the area around the transmission control valve block to prevent dirt or debris from entering the hydraulic system when the valve is removed.

   Remove the Faulty Valve

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty proportional solenoid valve. Unscrew the retaining bolts or the valve body itself from the transmission block. Have a catch pan ready, as a small amount of transmission fluid may leak.

   Install the New Valve

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid valve with clean transmission fluid. Insert the valve into the block and tighten it to the manufacturer's specified torque.

   Reconnect and Clear Codes

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn the ignition on and clear the fault codes using an SDF Analyser or the onboard diagnostic menu.

   Calibration

   If the replaced proportional valve controls the main clutch, the transmission must be recalibrated using the SDF Analyser diagnostic tool before returning the tractor to service.
